Fastest Ironman Debut Ever

In 2014, Brent McMahon roared onto the long-course triathlon scene taking the Ironman Arizona title with the fastest ironman debut ever recorded, breaking the course record and beating his nearest competitor by five minutes. McMahon finished 9th on his maiden appearance at the 2015 Ironman World Championship, the only rookie to do so that year. He has since then logged four Ironmans under the magic 8-hour mark, one of only a few in the world to do so.

For an athlete who’s been in the sport for more than 20 years, this success was built on years of hard work.

Brent did his first triathlon when he was 10 years old as a natural progression from swimming, running track, and cycling separately. He then captured four national titles as a junior and became a member of the Canada Olympic Distance National Team at age 19. He went on to represent Canada twice at the Olympics and almost 100 ITU events before focusing exclusively on long-course non-drafting racing.

He is also a 2x XTERRA World Championship medalist.
